He made $20k from only 6,000 app downloads

Hey there,

What does every app founder check first thing in the morning?

App downloads.

But most founders are watching the wrong number.

More installs don't actually mean more revenue.

The math is way more complicated than that.

I interviewed an 18-year-old named George on my YouTube channel last week who runs an app called Wrestle AI.

Last month he got 6,000 downloads and made $20,000 in recurring revenue.

That's $20k from a download number most founders would consider a slow week.

The reason George can do this comes down to two decisions he made before launch.

Wrestle AI charges $59.99 per year with a three-day free trial gated behind the yearly plan only.

There's no monthly trial option, which pushes users toward the yearly commitment from day one.

That single decision means he collects $60 upfront instead of waiting on $9 a month from someone who might churn after week two.

The onboarding does the rest of the work.

It's detailed and deeply personal.

Users build a full training profile, set their goals, commit to a schedule, and get a taste of the AI analysis before they ever hit the paywall.

By the time the price appears, they've spent 10 minutes building something they don't want to lose.

The internal math becomes simple.

At 6,000 downloads with even a 10% yearly conversion, you're collecting $36,000 in cash in a single month from new users alone.

So instead of treating downloads as the goal, put your effort into your onboarding.

Because downloads only matter if your onboarding turns them into revenue.

Peace,
Steven
