My Secret 7-figure App Validation Process

Hey buddy,

Mobile apps are one of the best ways to drive 5-figure months and fund your dream lifestyle. But here’s the truth:

Validation is everything. You need to know if your app idea is worth creating before you start building. Otherwise, you will lose lots of time, attention, energy, and money on building something doomed to fail.

Here’s how I validated Puff Count, my $40K/month app (now acquired):

Step 1: Analyze Your Day-to-Day

Many great ideas come from your own life. Puff Count was born because vaping was a trending problem. I saw it everywhere: My friends vaped, I did, it was on TikTok, and new vape stores popped up everywhere. You couldn’t come around vaping.

Step 2: Check Google Trends

I searched “quit vaping” on Google Trends and saw a consistent increase in search volume. That’s when I knew the demand was real.

Step 3: Research Marketplaces

Marketplaces like Flippa and Acquire are great for research. You can find similar apps and see if they’re printing money. For even deeper insights, you can use tools like SensorTower to spy on your potential competition.

Step 4: Think Marketing First

Great marketing can make or break your app. Before hiring devs or designers, I researched marketing ideas on TikTok. I found lots of “quit vaping” videos with millions of views. That gave me enough confidence to build my MVP.

Later, I recreated one of those viral videos and hit 2.6M views. It was my 3rd TikTok and drove 4,000 downloads to my app overnight.

Step 5: Build an MVP

Your MVP should solve the key problem—nothing else.

  • Make it functional.

  • Skip all the fancy features.

  • Move fast, break things, and build as you go.

If you’re struggling to validate your app idea or need help to build your MVP, reply to this email. I’d love to help.

Peace,
Steven
