Stop launching paid ads before testing creatives for free

Hey there,

Most founders burn thousands of dollars on paid ads before they know how their creatives perform.

Then they blame the platform.

They build the app and go straight to Meta or Apple Search Ads.

0 installs later, they walk away convinced paid ads don't work.

They quit before understanding what they were actually paying for.

The ad wasn't the problem. But the creative was just never validated.

When I’m scaling mobile apps, I don’t touch paid ads until I already have organic winners.

Here's the exact order I ran:

1: Save viral videos from competitors within the niche
2: Recreate viral formats testing different angles and pain points
3: Watch which ones get traction, actual installs and trials, not vanity views
4: Take the videos that already proved themselves and run those as paid ads.

TikTok's algorithm does the testing for you for FREE.

You find out what works without spending a dollar. Then when you put money behind it, you already know it converts.

I saw someone taking apart a vape on TikTok. Did the same. Got 1M views.

Took that same video and ran it as a Spark Ad. Printed new users at $1 CPI.

That happens when you put fuel to an already proven creative.

Burning money on ads means you skipped the organic step.
The organic step is free, it just requires patience and volume.

Post consistently, find the video that proves itself, and put money behind that one.

Peace,
Steven
