This CTA strategy got me 10M app downloads
Hey there,
TikTok buries content that feels salesy.
The algorithm can tell when someone's hard selling and so can your audience.
So if both detect salesy content, your video dies faster than you can spell “algorithm”.
One of the two things is gonna happen:
Either the video dies at 200 views because TikTok won't push it.
Or it gets 1,000 views but zero downloads because nobody wants to be sold to.
I scaled Puff Count to 120k followers on TikTok without hard selling.
I did something simple instead:
I showed one killer feature for 2 seconds in the middle of a story.
That's it.
In one video, I'm talking about vaping addiction and I flash the puff counter on screen. Simply showing how many puffs I took that day.
No explanation, no walking through how it works, literally just a quick visual to emphasize what I say.
Then at the end: "Check out this app if you need to quit."
That line only takes 2 seconds but drove thousands of downloads.
Why? It felt like a natural suggestion, not an ad.
Your audience is smart and knows when you're selling to them.
The second your video feels like an ad (rather than entertainment), they scroll past.
So the worst thing you can do is:
"Here's the onboarding. Here's the paywall. Here's how to set up your account."
Nobody cares.
You need to intrigue them with a story, then show one killer feature that makes them think "I need that."
For me, it was the vape monitor. One visual and people got it.
What's your killer feature?
Find the one thing you can show in 2 seconds that makes people understand why they need your app.
Find it, show it, and don't explain it.
The best CTAs never feel like CTAs.
Peace,
Steven
